TOUR OF THE CENTRE DES OPERATIONS FLUVIALES
The third day of visit took the EIFORCES delegation to the 32nd Groupement Naval.
Born out of the law outlining State action at sea and in continental waters, and its implementing decree, the Centre des Opérations Fluviales (COF) is the tactical-level operational component of an interministerial system. Its missions are carried out along the river border separating both capitals of the DRC and Congo.
Thanks to its nautical resources, the COF is able to carry out surveillance along the Congo River, and has set up an information network throughout its area of responsibility, alongside the system and resources used to monitor maritime space in the Gulf of Guinea. The COF also carries out support missions for other actors in the system (Customs, Police, etc.).
Brigadier General BITOTE André Patrice, head of the delegation, thanked the command of the Congolese Navy for the good arrangements made to inform the trainees and auditors about the missions assigned to this structure.
The stopover ended with a trip along the Congo River aboard Congolese Navy boats./-
