The APSTA has its new Cameroonian Executive Secretary in the person of the Police Commissioner, Dr. Cecile OYONO. The Deputy Director General of EIFORCES will chair the APSTA for the next three years.
This appointment was made at the end of the work of the Nominating Committee held in Yaoundé on 12 and 13 August 2019 under the auspices of the International School of Security Forces, acting as the transitional Executive Secretariat of the African Association of Peacekeeping Trainers.
Brigadier General James PUMZILE MACHAKAIRE (Chairperson) participated on behalf of the African Center for Constructive Resolution of Disputes-ACCORD (South Africa); Brigadier General Cheick Fanta Mady DEMBELE, Director of the Peacekeeping School Alioune Blondin BEYE (Mali); Brigadier General Rashid ELMI, Director of the International Peace Support Training Center-IPSTC (Kenya); His Excellency WIGWE Wilcox of the National Defense College-NDC (Nigeria) and Colonel Jill RUTAREMARA of the Rwanda Peace Academy-RPA (Rwanda).
In the margins of the Committee’s work, Cameroon and APSTA signed the Memorandum of Understanding and the APSTA Settlement Agreement in Cameroon, and the official submission of Cameroon’s offer to APSTA. The delegation’s visit ended after a visit to the Awaé EIFORCES campus about fifty kilometers from Yaounde.
